MARAWI CITY, Feb. 26 (PIA ICCC) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has continued to provide relief assistance to the families affected by Marawi siege, which happened almost two years ago.

Two family food packs were distributed to each family currently residing in transitory shelters and evacuation sites in the city particularly those in the Lake View Shelter in Barangay Boganga, Titanic Building in Lanao del Sur Provincial Capitol, Bito Buadi Itowa evacuation center and Bahay Pag-asa 1, Bahay Pag-asa 2  in Barangay Mipaga, Sarimanok Tent City and Biyaya ng Pagbabago Transitional Shelter Site in Barangay Sagonsongan.

Fatima Manardas, a former resident of Barangay Sabala Manao 1 and is now residing at Bito Buadi Itowa evacuation center, expressed her gratitude for receiving food packs from DSWD.

“Masaya po kami na nakatanggap kami ng relief. Salamat po sa DSWD at sa Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) kasi tinulungan nila kami,” said Manardas.

“Ang DSWD ay masaya na naibahagi ang relief goods. Nais po naming iparating sa inyo na sana ito ay makabigay ng ginhawa sa buhay ninyo bilang internally displaced persons (IDPs). Kami ay patuloy na sumusuporta sa inyong pangangailangan,” said Social Welfare Officer II Ramiel Guinandam of DSWD- 10.

[DSWD is happy to provide relief goods. We want to convey that these will give comfort to your lives as IDPs. We will continue to support your needs.]

DSWD conducted the distribution with the help from the Joint Task Group Tabang of the Philippine Army.

Lt. Col. Andres Soriano, commander of the 12th civil-military operations battalion also urged the IDPs to utilize the food packs in the right way.

“Sana during sa ganitong distribution ilagay ang sarili nila sa maayos. Dapat iyong relief goods na ay gamitin nila sa tama at huwag sana nila ibebenta,” said Soriano.

[During the distribution, I hope the IDPs will behave. They should use the relief goods the right way and not sell them.]

Meanwhile. Mary Joy Juson, executive assistant of the TFBM Field Office manager, reiterated that TFBM would continuously provide support to the IDPs.

“Ang TFBM  ay naninigurado na hindi kayo iiwanan ng gobyerno. Nandito ang lahat ng ahensiya na binubuo ng TFBM. Asahan niyo po na lagi kami nandito at susuporatahn namin kayo,” said Juson.

Sleeping kits, hygiene kits, drinking kits, and family kits were also distributed to the affected residents in Barangay Mipaga, Barangay Timbalangan and Barangay East Caloocan, Marawi City. (LEAntonio)
