ILIGAN CITY, July 12 (PIA-ICCC) – The remaining internally displaced persons (IDPs) housed at Sarimanok Tent City Sites 1 and 2, were overwhelmed after hearing the announcement of the National Housing Authority (NHA), which leads the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Subcommittee on Housing that they will soon be transferred to their own temporary shelter units in August this year.

NHA initially announced the good news during the TFBM Information and Serbisyo Caravan on Wednesday to the delight of the IDPs.

During the Bangon Marwi press briefing held here today, TFBM chairperson and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council Secretary Eduardo del Rosario reiterated the announcement.

“By September 30, 2019, all IDPs in evacuation centers will be transferred to Boganga Transitory Site,” Del Rosario announced.

Some 1,500 temporary shelter units are expected to be built at Boganga Transitory Shelter Site for Marawi IDPs.

NHA Marawi Project Management Office Director Roderick Ibañez also announced in the press briefing that they would finish building all temporary shelter units by March 2020.

“But by the end of this year, a total of 4,500 temporary shelter units will be opened and there will only be 500 units left to be built next yeat until March 2020,” he said.

While the building of temporary shelters in Boganga Transitory Site is almost done, NHA is also building more than a thousand temporary shelter units in Rorogagus Transitory Sites 1 and 2. (WLBacelonia/PIA-ICCC)
