MARAWI CITY, Sept. 22 — Barangay Gadongan here together with the municipalities of Butig, Piagapo, Bayang, Bubong, Ditsaan – Ramain, Kapatagan, Lumbaca-Unayan, Lumbayanague, Madamba, Marogong, Picong, Pualas, Saguiaran, Tubaran, Tugaya, and Wao participated in a two – day Tech4ED Center Managers Training held last Sept.18-19 at the Department of Information Communication Technology (DICT)-Lanao del Sur Provincial Field Office.
Speaking before the participants, DCIT-Lanao del Sur provincial officer Engr. Jaron Arab expressed his gratitude to the municipalities for supporting the Tech4ED project which stands for Technology for Education.
Tech4ED also aims to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic Development.
Center Managers Training serves as a capacity building to equip the trainees with relevant technical skills and knowledge to effectively manage and operate their respective Tech4ED centers. It also seeks to encourage the trainees to take the responsibility for spreading the government program in addressing the “digital divide” that exists among their constituents by sharing and putting their efforts to educate more Meranao communities to become digitally empowered.
Mr. Jalal D. Radia of barangay Gadongan, Marawi City said: “We should be grateful to the DICT for going “on the ground” in the entire Lanao del Sur to help us solve some problems left by the Marawi Seige.”
In a separate interview, he said: “barangay government of Gadongan is willing to support the program of DICT to better serve the IDP-constituents with information and communications technology.”
Moreover, Mr. Hayan Maradia from Tugaya town shared his realization from the training, saying, “Tech4ED can really provide good things for our community. So let us share all the insights that we have gained from this experience. Let us share this with our constituents back home.”
The local government units (LGUs) that availed themselves of the project shall establish their own Tech4ED centers either at the town hall, barangay hall, public school, public library or any government establishment. Services offered through Tech4ED platform comprise various digital contents for education, health, agriculture, marketing, government, and any related or similar platform segments. Several components of Tech4ED services will all be accessible to possible users from the different public sectors.
To complete the setup of Tech4ED centers, DICT will donate computer packages with auxiliary items to each LGU. The absence of internet connection which hampers the LGUs in establishing Tech4ED centers will answered by Free Wi-Fi for All. Tech4ED centers will eventually be developed as free internet access sites.
On the other hand, a representative of Butig town has arranged with DICT the preparation for a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing between the two agencies for the implementation of Tech4ED center to augment the services of the public library. The formal MOA signing with Mayor Atty. Dimnatang LB. Pansar will be held during Kumpas Barangay: Information and Serbisyo Caravan in Butig this coming Sept. 24, 2019. (AI/DICT LDS)
