MARAWI CITY, Nov. 24 (PIA ICCC) — For the second time this year, another 20 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi CIty were capacitated with skills in information and communications technology (ICT) in a training conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Jehan Marzoc of Barangay Gadongan said that she would be able to use the knowledge she gained from the training in her future endeavors.
“I’m so glad na nakasali ako, kasi marami akong di alam sa ICT,” said Marzoc.
(I am so glad that I was able to participate because I have gained so much knowledge about ICT.)
Marzoc said that she also plans to share everything she has learned to her fellow youth.
Meanwhile, for Salamat Dirampatun, being a beginner is not a hindrance to achieving one’s dreams.
“Subukan mo lang ng maayos. Kahit maraming dumadaan na problema, abotin mo ang iyong pangarap. Walang masama kung susubukan mo,” said Dirampatun.
(Try harder. Despite of challenges, achieve your dreams. There is no harm in trying.)
Dirampatun also said that he was amazed at learning the process of crafting presentations. He said that he would use and apply it in the future.
“To DICT, thank you very much for teaching us. Kasi hindi naman lahat ng tao ay may kaalaman sa technical (Because not everybody has a technical knowledge),” he said.
DICT has recently launched the Technology for Education to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic Development Center in Barangay Gadongan.
Gadongan Tech4ED Center Manager Jalal D. Radia, who was one of the trainees, cited the importance of digital literacy in this new era.
“Sa panahon ngayon kailangan ang kaalaman ukol sa computer para sa kabuhayan, edukasyon…(Nowadays, computer knowledge is necessary for living and education)”, Radia said.
“Nagpapasalamat kami sa Allah (We thank Allah), sa (to) DICT for this opportunity na binigay sa amin (given to us),” he added.
Radia is also willing to share his knowledge gained from training with others. He also encouraged his fellow trainees to be committed to applying their learning into reality.
The training was materialized through the support of Barangay Gadongan. (LEAntonio)
