MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Mar. 13 (PIA) — The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in Lanao del Sur urged residents here and in other municipalities of the province to refrain from believing and disseminating fake news about the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
IPHO chief Dr. Allen Minalang said the public should only get information about Covid-19 from authorities such as the Department of Health, World Health Organization, and local government units.
“Isang panawagan sa aming mga kababayan na dapat kumuha ng impormasyon mula sa mga awtoridad at huwag basta-basta maniwala sa mga posts sa social media,” said Dr. Minalang.
[We call on our fellow residents to only get first-hand information from authorities and should not believe immediately on social media posts.]
This has been a call for the public after misinformation circulated on Facebook saying that a person who tested positive for the pandemic Covid-19 is confined at the Mindanao State University Infirmary and that there is a lockdown in the area.
Dr. Minalang said those who have been a direct contact of a person with Covid-19 or have been exposed to areas that have cases of such disease are advised to observe home quarantine for 14 days.
The IPHO has been conducting intensive information drive to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the province.
As of March 12, there is no positive case in Lanao del Sur but one person is under investigation (PUI) and admitted to Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC).
In the previous days, there were two persons under monitoring (PUM) and one PUI in APMC but they tested negative.
Dr. Minalang also advised those with flu-like symptoms to immediately consult with health personnel or contact the hotlines of IPHO and APMC at 0906 290 2061 and 09991909488 / 09955632722, respectively. (LEAntonio/ PIA ICIC)
